Four British companies, each a leader in their field have come together to develop a vision for a sports car in this new electric age. Astheimer Design, BAMD Composites, Conjure and Potenza Technology.

Founded in 2009 by Carsten Astheimer, Astheimer Design created ‘Aura’, an all-electric long range concept car designed for nature, with sustainability at its core and efficiency driving its design. Developed by a consortium of British companies, and funded by the Office for Zero Emissions Vehicles through the Niche Vehicle Network, the Aura concept demonstrates the UK’s leading capabilities in zero emission vehicle development.

The ambitious programme to design, develop and build a fully working road legal prototype was partially funded by the Niche Vehicle Network in conjunction with the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles, the project started on the 1st October 2020 and launched at CENEX-LCV 2021, less than a year later.

Project description

In August 2020 Potenza were asked to supply Astheimer Design with the vehicle powertrain and systems integration for the Aura.

The intention with Aura was to create a sports car with a visceral driving experience and long range. We brought together 4 companies to work on this collaborative project, each experts in the development of electric vehicles. The close collaboration and the expertise of each partner enabled the rapid development from concept through to realisation.
